The Visitor

"Ya can take the dame outta New York, but ya can't take New York outta the dame"

Here is Miss Evie: an elderly Irish-American actress living in a nursing home in the west country of England towards the end of the new century.

Miss Evie has had an interesting career. As well as being a famous actress, she was a UN children’s ambassador, a successful life-coach (with her husband, Bren, a historian and university lecturer), a self-imposed cultural exile and a semi-professional coffee taster. Now, at the grand old age of 103 - thanks to scientific advances - she doesn’t feel a day older than a sprightly 85 - and is busy giving talks, visiting local schools and writing notes for her autobiographical self-help book which she intends to call ‘The Visitor’.

Beware, though! She is not one to be crossed: her temper and wit are as peppery as her 'O'Malley' red hair and she has not mellowed with age......

Meptazinol Dreams

Christine, Christine

Your eyes are grey

Like ashes on a mask

And a mirror broken

Your gaze like ice

Winter skies

And whispers on the rain"

During a hot summer in the mid-1980s a young man lies in a hospital bed with a spinal injury.

Existing in a twilight world, drifting between delirium and reality in an opiate-mediated haze, he keeps a writing pad on his bed in which he – in semi-lucid moments - scribbles fragments of verse inspired by what he experiences in the dreamscape.

Clara -

A Gothic Romance

- COMING SOON -

"I love her. God, I love her. I love her more than anything. One day I will stand before God, and I will thank Him for creating love itself, if only so that I can love her. Even though I were consumed utterly with this love, I love her. More than anything, more than life. I love her."

So writes Nathan Angove - in the spring of 1841 - to his brother, Samuel. But Samuel is confused. What or who, in the name of God, has transformed his hard-drinking, gambling and brawling brother into a love-poet besotted with a muse?

The answer lies in Clara - an intelligent and intriguing young woman - in whom Nathan has found his soulmate. But love is a sword: its power to transform is matched by its power to destroy - and Nathan and Sam are both swept into a terrifying emotional and supernatural vortex when tragedy strikes.
